Kasia Darlak, Ph.D.
Girls Rowing Head of Program
Coach Kasia Darlak joined Westminster in 2013 and currently serves as Head Varsity Girls Rowing Coach, Upper School Science Teacher, and Grade Chair for the Class of 2029. A Louisville, Kentucky native, she began rowing as a coxswain at Louisville Collegiate School before coxing for the Vanderbilt University varsity men’s rowing team, where she earned a double major in Molecular & Cellular Biology and German. She later completed a Ph.D. in Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis at Emory University, conducting research on leukemia and bone marrow transplantation and co-authoring publications in the field.
Since taking over Westminster Rowing, Coach Darlak has guided the program through remarkable growth, more than doubling in size and establishing a national presence. Her crews consistently compete at major East Coast regattas, including the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta, and have qualified for multiple Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championships. Highlights include a 10th-place finish for the Lightweight Varsity 4+ in 2015, a 13th-place finish for the Junior 8+ in 2023, and the program’s first-ever Varsity 8+ qualification in 2025. Beyond Westminster, she has coached at St. Andrew Rowing Club and Atlanta Rowing Club, working with novice, varsity, youth, and masters athletes. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes integrity, accountability, and shared success, fostering both individual growth and team achievement.
