Layne McLaughlin
Softball Head of Program
Layne McLaughlin joined Westminster Athletics as the Softball Head of Program, bringing both collegiate playing experience and over a decade of coaching success at the high school level. Since arriving at Westminster, she has guided the Wildcats to three Region Championships in just five years, building a program known for competitiveness, player development, and team culture.
A Thomasville, Georgia native, she was a multi-sport athlete at Thomas County Central High School before continuing her softball career at Santa Fe College. She played two years with the Saints before transferring to the University of Georgia, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology after an injury ended her playing career.
Prior to Westminster, she served as an Assistant Softball Coach at Lovett, where her teams reached back-to-back GHSA Elite Eight appearances and finished as State-Championship Runner-up , as well as at her alma mater, Thomas County Central, where she helped guide the team to another Elite Eight appearance.
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, she holds a Master’s in School Counseling from Mercer University and is committed to supporting her student-athletes both on and off the field. She serves as a learning strategist in the lower school.Â
